An absolutely stunning set by Bill Blass that really displays his talent to design and play up to that idea of refined and lady like elegance. Constructed from two separate pieces that are worn over each other for a bit of a baby doll feel. The inner dress is a sublimely simple shift with black silk chiffon layered over an inner layer of nude silk. It is strapless and fitted over the bust, skims over the waist and has a slight flare as it nears the hem. The exterior layer is made of a fine, almost weightless black lace so that you get a glimpse of the shape underneath. The lace used has a slightly starched so it has a touch of structure to it to hold the shape and volume created. This gives it the feel of a fine antique Chantilly. Each sleeve of the outer dress ends in a ruffle and that detail is picked up around the hem and collar. I love how the back dips to a squared off shape and extra panels of lace are there to give it extra fullness. Together they feel quite refined but it still has a subtle sexuality to it. Excellent condition

The inner dress is fully lined with a nude silk chiffon and is seamed and lightly boned. The exterior dress is unlined. The dress closes with a side metal and nylon zipper and the over-lay has hidden set fabric covered snaps under one of the vertical seams down the back.
