A lyrical composition of color, Lucia Antonelli strikes the senses with a sensational work of adornment. Working with found bakelite charms, the artist skillfully scripts an intriguing design to render the gaze in awe. Large, circular shapes in yellow coalesce in an assemblage aligned with long, slivers of red bakelite and small blue and black bakelite beads. Uniting the composition are the carefully strung strands of salvaged metal seed beads and tiny French brass beads of 19th Century handbags. Bringing together time and cultural distinctions into a singular work of art, Antonelli takes ahold of the soul as she sends the mind into a whirl of indescribable wonder.
