InstaVap Lite Oxalic Acid Vaporizer
The Lite is a budget-friendly option for beekeepers looking for effective mite control with vaporization. It is designed to work with smaller, more common 2AH batteries, making it an affordable choice for those who don’t want to invest in larger battery setups. Although it takes slightly longer to heat up, it delivers the same high-quality results as other models, providing effective control in a compact, portable package.
When To Use Oxalic Acid Vaporization:
Vaporizing varroa mites with is an excellent way to kill mites. But like all , it works better at certain times of the year and in particular situations. Vaporization is nearly 100% effective against mites inside the hive, but not in underneath the wax capping.
Because OA cannot penetrate the wax capping, it is most effective when a hive is without capped brood. This is during the winter for most areas of the US, after collecting a swarm, after a colony has sent a swarm out and during re-queening events when the hive has a brood break. These are all excellent times to use oxalic acid vapor.

Comparison to InstaVap Original and InstaVap Compact
Compared to the , the InstaVap Lite is more affordable and compact but takes longer to heat up. The Original is faster, especially when using higher-capacity batteries like 6AH, and is designed for more consistent use with larger apiaries. The compact is also a little heavy and more durable with its boxy design.
When compared to the , the Lite is smaller and compatible with more common 2AH batteries, while the Compact offers faster heating and vaporization times due to it's higher power consumption, it needs larger batteries than the 2ah. The Lite is ideal for those with smaller-scale operations who are willing to trade some speed for cost savings.
Usage Instructions
Turn on the vaporizer to preheat it to 445°F, and then fill the plunger with . Insert the stem into a drilled 1/4-inch hole or the . Release the oxalic acid by tapping the plunger, allowing it to vaporize instantly. Each treatment takes around 20-30 seconds. Make sure to monitor the battery voltage and wear protective gear to avoid exposure to oxalic acid fumes.
